Before I begin this journey, I need you to understand one thing. I am human. I make mistakes. I’m not perfect, nor do I claim to be. I am a normal person that you might meet at the local Dollar General or your local sporting event. On the outside, I look typically normal, but on the inside, a ferocious leader is rising. There is one problem. One of my biggest leadership passions is the church. Growing the local church and preparing a place where the lost and broken want to come to meet Jesus. As you read this, you are probably thinking, “Okay, what’s the problem?” The problem is I am a woman. I do not fit the typical mold of the silent, supportive woman in most small Southern American churches. I am a woman who pushes boundaries, sees the obvious and sometimes the not-so-obvious, and refuses to conform to the quiet Sunday school teacher role for women.
This space is not a platform, it’s not a ministry brand, and it’s definitely not intended to be a how-to guide to anything. Now, throughout this journey, you might learn a few things, and I’m sure I will learn a ton about life, ministry, and myself. While you might be reading about tension, fatigue, the weight of leadership, and, overall, a faith and passion that stay true, I’m not promising answers or a polished reading experience. What I am committed to is honesty and truth over performance.
So I hope you will join me on this journey to discovering the place for a passionate female leader in today’s traditional church. This ride might not always be fun, but I needed to stop and make a note for myself before the noise of life begins.
Love you big,
The Unorthodox Voice
